A RETURN TO ORDER AND DISORDER

(NARRATIVES OF RE-COLLECTING A CABINET OF CURIOSITIES)

Sue Uhlig, PhD Candidate Art Education

February 12 to February 27

In the summer of 2018, Between Order and Disorder inhabited BPS.  During that residency, the space filled with found object collections. At the conclusion of the exhibition, the project was unmade, given away, A Return to Order and Disorder builds upon that residency. Once again, collections and second-hand furniture will fill the space, but the pace will quicken to create a vibrant collection within the exhibition timeline. Some of the collections from the 2018 summer residency will be re-exhibited, recontextualized, and reconsidered from the Wunderkammer as both theoretical and conceptual frameworks. The emphasis for this new iteration of the exhibition will be on collecting textual, material, visual, and auditory stories from all participating collectors. These narratives will be displayed alongside the objects, gathered in books, and projected on the wall and from speakers.
