The Borland Project Space (BPS) is pleased to announce a call for its 2018 summer resident. We welcome proposals from graduate students, recent graduates, and advanced undergraduates from the College of Arts and Architecture. Projects should activate 125 Borland while addressing the BPS mandate of “arts research revealed.” The space will remain open to the public Monday-Friday, 8:30–5:00 PM. The resident will be expected to be actively working in the space for a minimum of ten hours per week. Preference will be given to residents whose proposals reflect and understanding of the public nature of the space and show a commitment to engaging with the BPS audience. The residency will end with a two-week exhibition of the project in August 2018. Please note that BPS is housed within a historic building adjacent to administrative offices. Applicants are encouraged to inquire with questions about feasibility of project proposals, and/or to visit the space prior to preparing their proposal to gain a sense of its limitations and capacities.

  • Residents may occupy the space beginning May 14, 2018 through August, 17, 2018.
  • A public exhibition of the resident’s summer research work will be displayed in the space from August 20–August 31, 2018
  • Applicants must submit a short description (maximum 250 words) detailing how the space will be used, how the resident’s project meets the goal of “revealing arts research,” and how their research will be displayed during the two-week exhibition period.

Interested applicants may submit their project descriptions via email to Ann Tarantino ( and Haley Finnegan (

Deadline: March 2, 2018.

One project will be selected.
