Preservation of Forgetting

Sidney Mullis

June 26 to August 31

“Preservation of Forgetting” is a body of work in which artist Sidney Mullis labors to let go of the topics—gender, sexuality, desire, and intimacy—that have dominated her mind and artwork since she took her first sculpture class as an undergraduate student. Despite this intent to grant herself temporary respite from these preoccupations, Mullis is making her most intimate sculptural work in which she rubs every inch of objects that are not hers. In her residency in the Borland Project Space, Mullis continues to mine these rich sources of inquiry. Her residency will culminate in an open studio in which she shares with the public the work created during her time in the space.
