Accumulation of Memory and Form

Cathy Braasch

January 17 to February 16

Braasch’s residency will explore duration in architectural space – the influence of memory and the potential to design for change – through a series of iterative drawings. The drawings will be progressively displayed along with previously completed works and in concert with discussions about the role of memory and time in the design of the built environment.

“The images created will carry forward traces of the past in erasures, overdrawing, errors, and eccentric spatial conditions,” explained Braasch. “These arise out of this negotiation between accident and intention, much like designing with existing site conditions or witnessing the gradual evolution of a city.”
